Wills
One of the most common misconceptions is that on the death of one party their estate will automatically pass to the surviving partner. However this result can not be guaranteed if the deceased left no will. Making a will is much easier and less costly than is commonly believed. A correctly drawn will can save many thousands of pounds and considerable heartache for the bereaved. These days more and more people have second families and it is absolutely vital that a deceased’s wishes are clearly and unequivocally stated. This can only be guaranteed by drawing up a professionally prepared will. We have many years of experience and will help you through the process of making your Will. We are happy to discuss the various options with you, so that your will is right for your own particular situation.

Probate
We have many years of experience in assisting clients with the emotional and legal upheaval that arises upon the death of a loved one. We appreciate that often clients have not dealt with this area of the law before. We believe the manner in which we approach this with you makes what can be a difficult time easier to bear. We will handle obtaining the grant of representation which then enables the deceased’s assets to be realised and the liabilities to be discharged, in order that the estate can be distributed amongst those legally entitled.

Lasting Powers of Attorney
Lasting Powers of Attorney were introduced in October 2007 with the aim of enabling people to appoint third parties to deal with their financial affairs or personal welfare after they themselves lose the ability to manage their affairs. Prior to this date the law was governed by the Enduring Powers of Attorney Act but the introduction of Lasting Powers of Attorney legislation has unfortunately made the procedure more complicated. A fundamental difference is that the Lasting Power of Attorney has to be registered with the Court before it can be operated, and therefore it is vitally important that the power is prepared in accordance with the prescribed procedure. We will then discuss the registration of the Lasting Power of Attorney with you.
